PRESS RELEASE:
Mill Valley, CA
Spherical Solutions announced that as of April 15 of this year,
the Pyro accelerator board for 25 mhz Motorola-based NeXT hardware
will no longer be manufactured by Newer Technology. This was a
joint decision by Spherical and Newer.
Sam Goldberger, President of Spherical Solutions, said:"We encountered
a range of technical problems in developing and rolling out this
product which proved very difficult to solve. But most importantly,
the level of sales just doesn't justify continuing production."
Until April 15, Pyro will remain available for 25 mhz Motorola-based
NeXT hardware, including cubes, stations and color stations. No
upgrades are available for 33 mhz turbo machines, nor are any
contemplated for technical and economic reasons.
Pyro is priced at $899, with a 10% academic discount. There is a
$150 surcharge if your CPU is soldered to the motherboard.
